5 Ways to Get Happy this September

5 Ways to Get Happy this September

As F. Scott Fitzgerald said,

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the Fall.”

So, let's take his advice: read on for a fresh happy start!

ONE.

Splurge on some fancy new pens.

I confess a weakness for German designs, and my new faves are the elegant

gel ink pens from Leuchtturm1917. They have a lovely fine flow, and come in such a beautiful range of Autumn colors.
(It seems I've developed a bit of an addiction – these four above are all from my personal collection.)

A smooth, new pen will make everyday tasks a bit more special.

TWO.

Stock up on new notepads, or a fresh little notebook

Because whatever your to-do’s happen to be, it’s always much more calming writing them down, than tapping them into your phone.

(We just happen to have a bunch of options to browse right here.)

THREE.

Channel your inner-student: pick up a snazzy new pencil case.

There are beautifully crafted pouches from small makers who would love your support. I bought myself one from an independent company, MW Makes, and I know the leather will only look better the more it’s knocked around in my bag.

FOUR.

Leave your phone at home, and take yourself out for a walk in the new Autumn air. Witness how, step by step, your mind un-clutters and gains focus.

FIVE.

Send a card.

Ok, ok — of course I would say that. But, to me, sending a card is a kind of double-joy. The first pleasure in selecting just the right card, choosing a few words, and stamping it out into the world. And, the second, knowing that in a week or so, a little buzz of happiness will be delivered to the receiver.

Wishing you a lovely Autumn ahead!
